Art & Music Activity Sessions

These activities were set up to provide creative activities for local adults with learning difficulties and disabilities, who previously attended day services.

Occasional Painters/Art Group

The group works on a number of different themes and uses a wide range of different materials including fabrics, collage, painting, weaving and mixed media and they regularly contribute to city-wide projects. This has including making squares for York quilt museum’s ‘Patch Project’ and making large structures for the ‘Fiesta’ festival in York. The Occassional Painters also regularly looks to famous artists for inspiration and once a term the group hosts an open day where they exhibit their own work, and invite family and friends to come and view it.

The group meets each Wednesday afternoon from 1.15pm – 2.45pm at Burton Stone Community Centre and costs £3 per week.

We currently have places available for new people wanting to join the Occasional Painters group. If you are interested please talk to your care manager or contact us and we will help you.
