Creative Media

Creative Media is a group of adults with moderate learning difficulties and disabilities who use adaptive technology to make and record their own sounds and music as well as working with other media artforms.

Creative Media is one of AAM’s longest running programme that started in 1992 as a radio group and have experienced a wide range of activities throughout this time.

In the Spring of 2010, the group took part in the citywide Explore Media Project, where the group had their first opportunity to experience filmmaking and they produced a number of short films for the Ableweb York site.

As of November 2010 Creative Media will be turning their attention to a new and exiting radio project. In partnership with Khaoz Media and the Explore Library, York, called Ableweb Radio where they will be learning how to set up and run an on line community radio station that will be linked to the Ableweb York site and will broadcast information and news regarding the disabled community of York. The group meets each Monday morning during term time at the Garden Room of the York Explore Library from 10am - 12pm and costs £3 each week.
